The Guitar and Bass have strings that vibrate to create sound. An acoustic's strings vibrate the air inside the body of the guitar and projects louder without amplification. An Electric's strings vibrate and influence the current being pumped through the pickups by the amplifier. Both electric and acoustic guitars have the same naming of strings. EADGBE

Notice there are two E strings, a high and a low one. The low or thickest string is closest to you. The next closest string is the A string, then D then G then B then the high sounding E. Remembering the order of the strings and which one is which is very convenient. One way to remember is to make up an Acronym. Use this one or make up your own. Every Afternoon Doug Gets Bad Eats or Eat All Doughnuts, Get Big Everytime Whatever you use to remember it is vital to memorize and be able to recall them at any time.
